This is a small report of Batu Tara Expedition on September 2012, Batu Tara Volcano is has been active since January 2007 and until this report still ongoing eruption with strombolian eruption every 10-45 minutes erupted.
The first historical eruption from Batu Tara, during 1847-52, produced explosions and a lava flow

During this trip on September 14-18, 2012 we overnight at Pulau Sabete about 68 km from Pulau Komba (batu tara), at night I can see the Fire the this Volcano, have 2 times on big eruption, and need about 5-6 hours sail using Fisherman Boat from Larantuka to Pulau Komba (Batu Tara Volcano

Strombolian Erpution of Batu Tara with ash plume more than 2 km

Batu Tara Volcano is an Isolated in the Flores Sea about 50 km from Lembata Island or about 78 km from East Flores (Larantuka small town), Landing to close into the face of Crater is not easy, because waves from east sea higher and also walking in the beach is very difficult also for back to the Fisherman Boat.

every 10-45 minutes, Batu Tara made Strombolian Eruption with ash Plume and Lava Bomb

Based on analyses of satellite imagery, the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre (VAAC) reported that during 12-16 September ash plumes from Batu Tara rose to an altitude of 2.1 km (7,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted 28-130 km W and NW.
